Client Challenge
Swissport Aspire Lounges need to deliver consistent high-end passenger experiences across UK airports. BDM was employed to help deliver this objective. Interior designers provided strong visual concepts, but turning these into buildable, compliant spaces required more technical input.
Contractors often lacked the detailed specifications they needed, drawings weren’t always up-to-date and key compliance questions sometimes went unanswered – all of which created pressure on budgets, timelines and delivery.
BDM’s Solution & Approach
BDM was first brought in by a contractor to provide technical drawings at Heathrow. Since then, we’ve become a key partner to Aspire and Swissport directly, stepping in wherever needed to make each project buildable, compliant and well-documented.
Across seven UK lounges we have:
- Turned visual concepts into technical drawings ready for build
- Provided structural, fire and compliance detail – often missing from designer briefs
- Managed document control to avoid errors from outdated plans
- Delivered building control submissions and liaised with inspectors
- Adapted designs across regions, accounting for different UK building regulations
- Flagged and fixed budget-busting design elements early to recommend viable, more cost efficient options
- Provided guidance on regulatory and airport compliance
Impact
- Seven Aspire lounges supported across England, Scotland and Northern Ireland
- Reduced build errors and late-stage design changes
- Smoother compliance approvals
- Clearer contractor briefs
- Long-term client trust and repeat engagement
Bridge the gap between concept and construction with flexible, technical design support tailored to your team with BDM.
